"The phenomenon of 'stain' is central to the work of Lizan Freijsen. The way in which natural processes leave a drawing in daily life is the subject of her work. Freijsen has been photographing, documenting and analyzing damp spots, fungal spots, algae and lichens for years. This results in a growing Archive of Spots and Spots. For Freijsen this collection is an independent universe with its own visual quality.
