“After the summer, exhibition space 38CC will be on repeat. In the first half of this year it was all about copying, imitating or recreating, resulting in a new variant. From September onwards, it will revolve around repetition of shapes, order, rhythm and tight patterns. That seems boring and monotonous. The group exhibition Repeat 2.0. Repetition makes perfect (part 4), however, proves the opposite. It shows that this kind of repetition can lead to beauty. And even to innovation. " Part 4: Rob Birza, Marijn van Kreij, Sarah van der Lijn, Florian and Michael Quistrebert, Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek and We Make Carpets

"The centerpiece of the exhibition are three paintings by Rob Birza: Shifting Systems. The grids on these canvases move between foreground and background. In between, a new space opens up. Marijn van Kreij elevates the graphic patterns of the inside of his Envelope Drawings. envelopes (tax authorities, bank) to contemporary abstract drawings. He meticulously copied these printing patterns by hand. Sarah van der Lijn knows how to create grid patterns by long repetition of a simple action with 'own material' (hair and blood) that testify to beauty and silence. We Make Carpets provides a colorful, new geometric carpet on the floor. Depending on the location, this designer and artist collective chooses a pattern and especially the type of material. Photographer Ari Versluis and stylist Ellie Uyttenbroek have been laying their famous The Exactitudes project establishes how individuals are likely to behave within the dress codes of social groups honor. They capture their subject in repetition and grids. Finally, Florian and Michael Quistrebert (F) show in the vault with their video Dots that the repetition of abstract patterns combines wonderfully with the dance of dervishes. "
