Visual artist Karin van Dam makes drawings in space. She makes use of everyday objects that are given a poetic layering by the new context. Her work often has a relationship with the city. Not the city as petrified architecture but as an unbridled organism. For her installation Verende Stad in 38CC she was inspired by her stay in the city of Tokyo, where she was especially fascinated by the omnipresent vibrations that find their way through the many layers of the city. Veerde Stad is her interpretation of Tokyo, where delicacy, fragility and monumentality go hand in hand. Duality and transparency are central. Van Dam makes use of recognizable objects that are used for functional purposes in everyday life. But within the new context of the work the wells, tents, rubbers, etc. and many other materials have a different meaning, a more poetic layering .. "
