The exhibition Of Monsters and Men takes us to the surreal worlds of artists Sam Hersbach, Elke Lutgerink and the duo Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg The paintings of Sam Hersbach (NL), winner of the Royal Prize for Painting 2018, depict strange universes in which you can find elements from science fiction stories, computer games and philosophical theories. The objects of Elke Lutgerink (NL) shine through their material use something cuddly and sweet and find themselves in the border area between the natural and the unnatural. A border that can be beautiful and scary at the same time. Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg (SE) make stop-motion animation films that at first sight are sweet and innocent seem, but are about serious themes such as pleasure, desire, power, obsession and violence. The fantasies in Of Monsters and Men seem far removed from reality, but at the same time show the monster within ourselves. ".
