Word & Thread - DelftsPeil
05.11.2022 - 19.11.2022
Textiles, that's what it's all about in the Textile City Collection exhibition in 38CC. And for the personal stories of residents of Delft. Hundreds of people from Delft have contributed to this special exhibition. It started no less than twenty years ago. In 2002, 310 Delft women, led by artists Tonny van Sommeren and Christina Linaris Coridou, embroidered De Delftse Kleden and De Jurk van Delft together. As a contemporary follow-up to this, theater maker Marjet Roerink started the community arts project Word & Wire this year. The exhibition City Collection Textile is part of this. The exhibition featured De Delftse Kleden and De Delftse Jurk, which were specially removed for this purpose from the depot of Museum Prinsenhof, where they have been carefully kept all these years. Textile work by fellow townspeople was also displayed in a life-size wooden type case. Objects that have a special meaning to them, along with the story. During the exhibition in 38CC, artist Bart Gorter worked on his loom on a new Delft Cloth. The whole of Delft could help with this. Bring a piece of fabric or clothing and weave it into the rug together with Bart. This creates an enormous cloth of life stories and memories. The Textile City Collection was created in a collaboration between Stichting DelftsPeil and 38CC. read room text
