Soft Machine Yves Gellie, Marisa Rappard, Wanda Tuerlinckx, Amrith de Zoete 01.02.2026 - 29.03.2026
Why do we feel empathy for a robot? In the exhibition Soft Machine at 38CC, four artists explore the boundary between human vulnerability and technological perfection. Mechanical sculptures, analog drawings, and iconic robot portraits reveal how strongly we project our emotions onto machines that increasingly resemble us.
Amrith de Zoete
evokes compassion with his strenuous mechanical figures, while Marisa Rappard
explores the intertwined relationship between humans, machines, and technology through drawings and textiles. Wanda Tuerlinckx
portrays robots with traditional cameras, thereby questioning our perception of humanity. Yves Gellie
presents moving and alienating encounters between robots and the elderly in care facilities. OPENING January 31, 2026, at 4:00 PM
